Day 12,
woke up in Neuenkirchen, had some breakfast rolls (and some real good vegan sausage), said our goodbyes to Thiel and the other hommies at the space and headed off for Freiburg, Germany. again, another glorious 2-3 hour drive...and again, another "glorious" listening session dedicated to Lord of the Rings. (still on the first book...i think we are on disk 83924324 or something st00pid like that).
the drive was alright. pretty calm...weather keeps getting better and better. not ridiculously hot, but sunny and warm. mine and Steven's allergies started getting a little shitty again. he took some crazy German thing that Boss gave him...i drugged myself up with some benadryl and partied it out of my system. we got to the venue pretty early. we were greeted by Nadine and some other siq kids that ran the shows there. we had a lot of time to just hang out and look around and chill...and in doing so, i found these B.A. shades...
...i think Boss was really into them.
i was stoked for this show cause we were playing with this band called Death is not Glamorous (who are from Norway) who i was pretty excited on seeing live. they showed up not too long after we got there and they were awesome dudes. cool thing (that we didnt know) was that they toured with Broadway Calls on the East Coast in the US for some time last year...so they knew all of those rad kids too. small world.
before dinner, we nerded it up on the internet, watching ridiculous youtube videos, looking up old-siq-ass hip hop jamz from back in the day (as you will read in my "siq shit" list) and watched a little bit of Superbad.
the kids from the space set up dinner outside for us and Death is not Glamorous which was super nice...
...total picnic set-up in the warm sun. good times. the food was super good too...had potatoes with this veggie-mix with these vegan soy ball things...
...gooooooood.
after dinner, we just hung out way hard cause the show wasn't starting till something crazy like 23:00! (that's "11pm" for all of you that think "Grey's Anatomy" and "Lost" are the best thing to happen to your life). it was cool cause the people at the space had set up this movie-night thing and set up a screen and projector outside and they also had this huge vinyl distro set up outside. rad times. oh! and also, the kids at the space told us that after our show, that we better not be tired cause they were gonna do a 90s hiphop/ r&b dance party at the same space.
anyways, after some hours, Death is not Glamorous played and completely ruuuuuuuuuled. they were total Kid Dynamite/Shook Ones-ish. reallllly reaaaaally good. (and did i mention they were all really awesome guys too??? cause they are). here are some pics of their set...
we played after that and it also went very well. really fun. but it was suuuuuper fuckin hot. like crazy sweat everywhere n' shit. and i'm not gonna lie, i was for sure tired as SHIT after we finished playing...but as i had just finished cleaning up all my stuff and putting all my crap away, Blackstreet's "No Diggity" came on over the PA.
...it was ALL fuckin over after that...
2 hours later, all of us, a few of the Death is not Glamorous kids, and the kids who worked at the space danced to such GEM-ass-jamz like: "Return of the Mac", "I Got 5 On it", "Fugeela", "No Scrubs", "California Love", "Bugaboo", "Crossroads", that one awesome song that goes all like "ah, la, la, la, la, lum", and my fave...Genuinne's "Pony". shit was real. real siq. (as one can tell by the pictures below)...
...a little while before this picture was taken, me and Wes had this ridiculously drunken lady (who apparently was known in the area for being the "crazy lady") all sandwiched-up between us n shit. it was ill. she was really into it...i know...i could feel it. hah, bummer that she stumbled out of the place before my camera came out :(
...that's Wes' move called "the zombie". it's one of my faves. straight gangsta.
...i got called out. and ya no, i'dz had 2 br8k it d0wn 4 a bit. no big deal. heh.
...that's the bass player for Death is not Glamours. he rules a lot.
after much much dancing went on, we all called it a night and went upstairs to the sleeping room with tons of bunks and all that jazz. good times.
"siq shit", top 5, ya heard?:
1. Jack telling me that taking benadryl would make me all sleepy, and me being like "pffff, naaaaaw dude, no way, party!". then like an hour later being REALLY REALLY sleepy, but not wanting to tell anyone or show it and have people be like "told you dude"...so i just fought it. and i fuckin won.
2. me announcing to the rest of the guys that my official song of this tour is "Captain Save a Hoe" by E-40 and the Click. i think we listened to it like 10 times in a row. (when you get a chance, go to youtube and peep the video for that song, it's an amazing portrayal of love, gangstaz, superheros and "hoe-saving").
3. that "crazy old lady" asking me to sign her random cloth/scarf thing that she had with her. i said "sure!", grabbed a pen, and spelled out "Robert Freeze"...(Mr. Freeze...love u Tanman!)
4. looking at our crew at the dance party during "California Love" and telling Wes..."damn, this song has never made so much sense to me until now...apparently California really DOES know how to party".
5. Boss...
